Background
Counsel Michael Gerst is a seasoned litigator with extensive experience at all stages of the litigation process, from pre-litigation advising, to the initial pleadings, to law and motion, to discovery, summary judgment, trial, and appeal. Michael has handled matters in both state and federal courts, as well as in private arbitration. Over his career, Michael has represented clients in various substantive areas, including financial services, entertainment, government, employment, soft IP, and general commercial disputes. Prior to joining Reeder McCreary, Michael worked at both international and boutique law firms.
Michael also has experience practicing in the courts of appeal, including the California Courts of Appeal; the Washington, Hawaii, Oregon, Ohio, and Pennsylvania Courts of Appeals; and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Ninth, Third, Fifth, and Sixth Circuits. He has also argued numerous appeals before the California Courts of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Michael obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and his law degree from the University of Southern California, where he was Executive Senior Editor of the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal. During law school, Michael externed for the Honorable Arthur Alarcon on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
